The Peterbald is not a bald cat! it is a cat with variations to its coat. It was developed in Russia, with a little cat being found and subsequently being mated to an Oriental cat. This brought the Don sphynx to being. it was then developed to be the Donskoy cat, and later becoming the Peterbald.

it is a cat with a hair losing gene. so the cat may present as a bald cat, a silken bald, velour, brush or a straight coated cat. The gene is not carried, so the message is, in breeding , what you see is what you get!

The bald cats are not compatible for mating together , but the intermatings with the other coat varieties produces wonderful cats with gloriously different coats....Truly weird and wonderful.

Peterbald Cats

With the ultra bald Peterbald cat you will have to remember this is a cat with no protection, so bathing weekly is the normal expectation for their owners. They may feel the cold in parts of Australia, so little jackets can be made for them!

We also need in our climate to remember these cats will not be outside cats, and will need protection from our sun and its fierce heat. They should not be allowed outside so are the perfect house cat (and of course bed kitty)

Please feel free to contact us, if just a little bit of Peterbald would make you smile

The Peterbald.

In 2009 Jeff and I traveled to Europe, and were amazed to meet our first Peterbald cat. "Callas" owned by Yvonne Klein and bred by Catherine Bastide. She was the most amazing cat we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Within a month of returning home, we determined that a peterbald must be part of our family.

Now 8 months later, our baby is born in Canada, is getting ready for her Rabies immunisation and then to begin the travel to Australia. We have not recieved official photographs of her at this time, but this will occur shortly and we will post them to this site.

Those interested in joining us on this journey, should make contact with us, and be part of this most thriling breeding venture. At this time two Peterbalds are coming to Australia, with more to follow soon after.

This is an amazing cat, so should you be interested in being part of the foundation of Peterbald cats in Australia, please make contact with us and we will prepare you for this journey.
